The Kelley Law Firm was founded in Bluefield, Virginia, in 2006 by attorney David B. Kelley.

A Bluefield, West Virginia native, David Kelley is a graduate of Bluefield High School. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Richmond, and received his law degree from Thomas Cooley School of Law in Michigan. David Kelley was admitted to the West Virginia and Maryland State bars in 1984.

David Kelley joined the Prosecuting Attorney's office in Prince George's County, Maryland, in 1984. There he began his trial career and developed his criminal representation expertise. He entered private practice in Maryland in 1989, and continued developing his skills in criminal matters and established other areas of legal specialization including, Personal Injury, Auto Accidents, Wrongful Death, Slip & Fall, and Adoption.

In 1999, David Kelley returned to Bluefield, and began to represent individuals of this community in civil and criminal matters. In 2006, David Kelley recognized the dual needs of many of his clients for representation in both the State of Virginia and West Virginia. To better serve his clients, he applied for and was admitted to practice law in the State of Virginia and opened his office at its current location of 520 Virginia Avenue, Bluefield, Virginia.
